All of the sudden the world turned white!
Nov 18, 2025
Every year it's something special, magical and exciting when the first snow arrives. The world all of sudden turns more quiet and soft.
The annoying thing as a runner is that winter and snow sometimes makes running much harder.
To be honest I have never been a big fan of running in bad winter conditions, but rather skiing, but there are some things that make it much better.
Right clothes, not being too cold or too hot. Wool underlayer and warm enough gloves is a must for me and then the rest of the clothes are less important to stay comfortable.
Shoes that keep you on your feet
To be running on an icy and slippery surface is at best not enjoyable and at worst very dangerous and it’s easy to get an injury, either from falling or being running with a tense non regular form. Either put a few spikes in one pair of your regular shoes or buy the rubber straps with spikes in them.

Be visible in the winter darkness
It’s very dark right now, both in the morning and afternoon, so stay safe! High-visibility west and headlamp so other traffic can see you.
Slow down – and enjoy the season
Don’t obsess about the pace. It will be slower to run in the winter, just do your best with what the conditions allow.
Finally, my favorite product right now is the cardamom oats and dates bar. The perfect winter spice bar that gives Christmas feelings!
Greetings,
Ida
